The Silicon Valley - New Japan Summit is an invitation only two-day summit to connect Silicon Valley startups and Japanese companies. We collaborated with TECHBLITZ, a Japanese tech media, US-Asia Technology Management Center - Stanford University and Japan Management Association to hold this summit at Stanford University, the core of the Silicon Valley ecosystem.
The summit features a Biz-Dev booth where Silicon Valley startups and Japanese companies can directly talk business, as well as lectures and panel discussions on examples of cooperation with Japanese companies that will both stimulate and inform. This summit will generate collaboration between Silicon Valley startups and Japanese companies.

Lectures and panel discussions will be held on the topic of Silicon Valley-style innovation with Japanese companies.

His research and teaching focus on innovation systems, the impact of new technologies on industry value chains, and open innovation management. Dr. Dasher serves as an advisor to universities, national research institutes, and government S&T funding programs in Japan, Thailand, Canada, and other countries. He is also active as an advisor to start-up companies, business accelerators, venture capital firms, and nonprofits in Silicon Valley, China, Japan, and S. Korea. Dr. Dasher was the first non-Japanese person ever asked to join the governance of a Japanese national university, serving as a Board Director and member of the Management Council of Tohoku University from 2004 - 2010. Dr. Dasher received M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Linguistics from Stanford University.

Prior to Sentons, Jess served as President and CEO of InVisage Technologies, where he established a new category of high performance cameras and image sensors. To achieve this, Jess and his team created entirely new multi-layered electro-optical device stacks fed by designer quantum dot films. Jess led InVisage from its neonatal R&D stage to product adoption & revenue with Tier 1s, over $100M of capital raises, and ultimately its exit to Apple, where he drove the M&A integration into undisclosed projects.

Later he worked at a start-up, Faraday Future where he led a team to develop self-driving software for next generation smart cars. He architected and deployed AI algorithm and Deep Learning model in self-driving application. Later he worked at Apple as Sr. Architect worked on autonomous solution.

Currently he is the, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of SafeAI, Inc. SafeAI is building the future of autonomous mine by creating autonomous mining equipment that just works.

He has published 1 book on autonomous robotics, over 15 journal papers, and filed more than 40 patent applications.

Chris is a Silicon Valley entrepreneur and technologist. Most recently, he has led Cognite Ventures, a specialized analysis, investment and advisory company for deep learning start-ups. Prior to Cognite, he served as CTO for Cadence’s IP Group, where he and his team developed a new processor and memory for advanced applications in mobile, automotive, infrastructure, deep learning, and IoT systems.

Chris joined Cadence after its acquisition of Tensilica, the company he founded in 1997 to develop extensible processors. He led Tensilica as CEO and later, CTO, to develop one of the most prolific embedded processor architectures. Before that he was VP and GM of the Design Reuse Group at Synopsys. Chris was a pioneer in developing RISC architecture and helped found MIPS Computer Systems. He holds an MSEE and PhD in electrical engineering from Stanford and a BA in physics from Harvard. He holds more than 40 US and international patents. He was named an IEEE Fellow in 2015 for his work in development of microprocessor technology.
